Physicochemical Properties:

Appearance: White or light yellow crystalline.

Soluble in ammonia and water, aqueous solution was alkaline. Slightly soluble in alcohol, not the solution in acetone. At 350C decomposition begin to generate potassium and release nitric oxide gas. Applications and Usages:

 Potassium nitrite is used as a reducing agent in industry. Food chromogenic agent, chemical reagent, can also be used in the manufacture of aniline dyes and azo dyes, medicine, and used in metallurgy for the separation of nickel and diamond.
