Molybdenum Dioxide

Molybdenum Dioxide

Other name: Molybdenum(IV) oxide

Molecular formula: MoO₂

Molecular weight: 127.94

CAS No.: 18868-43-4

EINECS: 242-637-9

Physicochemical Property:

Brown-black powder, purple with steel luster. The density is 6.47 g/cm3. Metal molybdenum can be obtained by co-heating with hydrogen above 500°C. It reacts with chlorine gas to form molybdenum oxychloride (VI), and does not react with hydrogen chloride, alkali and acid. Very slightly soluble in sulfuric acid, nitric acid and silver nitrate. Reacts with oxygen to form molybdenum trioxide.

Applications and Usages:

Molybdenum dioxide is a transition metal oxide with high electrical conductivity, high melting point, and high chemical stability. Li-ion batteries and field emission materials have broad application prospects.
