Chemical properties: Pure glutaraldehyde is a colorless transparent oily liquid, soluble in water, ether, ethanol and other organic solvents, melting point -14°C, boiling point 188°C, refraction index (25°C) 1.4330, non-flammable. 25% glutaraldehyde aqueous solution has a relative density of 1.066 (20°C), a melting point of -5.8°C, and a boiling point of 101°C. It is highly irritating. Aromatic, lively, volatile, polymerized and oxidized. It can be cross-linked with protein and used for tanning to obtain finished leather with excellent washing and perspiration resistance.

 

Application: Glutaraldehyde has a wide range of applications in industry. First of all, it is a fast, efficient and broad-spectrum fungicide, widely used in petrochemical, papermaking, metal processing, oilfield water injection and other fields. Glutaraldehyde is also an intermediate in organic synthesis. Body, tanning agent in leather industry, protein crosslinking agent.
