Nickel Chloride Hexahydrate
Molecular formula: NiCl₂·6H₂O
Molecular weight: 237.69
CAS No.: 7791-20-0
EINECS: 616-576-7
Physicochemical Property:
Green or grass green monoclinic prism crystal. Relative density 1.921. Melting point 80℃. Easily soluble in water and ethanol, its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. It is easy to weather in dry air and deliquesce in moist air. When heated to above 140°C, it completely loses crystal water and becomes a yellow-brown powder.
Applications and Usages:
It is used for nickel plating in the electroplating industry and for anode activation in rapid nickel plating. Nickel chloride has strong ammonia absorption and can be used as an ammonia absorber in industry or gas masks. It can also be used to make various nickel compounds, catalysts, dry batteries, and preservatives.
