N-Bromosuccinimide

Physicochemical Properties: 

White or milky white fine-grained crystals, slightly bromine smell. Soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, acetic anhydride, insoluble in water, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, etc. The specific gravity is 2.097, the melting point is 173-175°C, and it decomposes at 182°C. The minimum content of active bromine is 44.5%. Slightly decomposes at 173.5°C. Soluble in carbon tetrachloride.

Applications and useages: 

It can be used to synthesize bromoacetonitrile drugs, used in the pesticide industry to synthesize thiabendazole, and can be used as fruit preservatives, antiseptics, and antifungal agents.
