Potassium nitrate is an inorganic compound, commonly known as saltpeter or nitre, with the chemical formula KNO₃. It is a potassium-containing nitrate, usually appearing as colorless transparent rhombic or rhombohedral crystals, and may also be white granules or crystalline powder. It is odorless, with a salty and cooling taste. It has slight hygroscopicity in air and is not prone to caking; it is readily soluble in water, soluble in liquid ammonia and glycerol, but insoluble in anhydrous ethanol and diethyl ether.
In recent years, with the continuous increase in potassium fertilizer application in agriculture, the market demand for agricultural grade potassium nitrate, a high-quality potassium fertilizer, has been growing. In agriculture, as a dual-nutrient (nitrogen and potassium), high-grade chlorine-free potassium fertilizer, it is especially suitable for tobacco, tea and flowers. It can improve fruit quality, enhance drought resistance, and promote balanced plant growth, making it ideal for large-scale agricultural operations.
In industry, potassium nitrate is widely used in ceramics, precision instrument glass, touch screen glass, photovoltaic glass, gunpowder, fireworks, as well as food and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, its application in solar energy storage is a new highlight: high-temperature molten nitrate salt for power generation can raise the operating temperature of solar power plants to 450–500°C.
· Agricultural Grade: Purity ≥ 99.0%, suitable for conventional crop fertilization.
· Industrial Grade: Purity ≥ 99.4%, with low impurity content to meet industrial production requirements.
Higher purity products can also be customized according to customer needs. The corresponding grade should be selected based on the application scenario during procurement to prevent performance issues caused by insufficient purity. It is packaged in 25 kg bags, and bulk container options are available for large industrial orders.
As a high-concentration compound fertilizer containing nitrate nitrogen and potassium, it is suitable for cash crops such as tobacco, vegetables, fruit trees and flowers.Advantages: Fast-acting, does not cause soil compaction, improves fruit sweetness and color. Especially ideal for chlorine-sensitive crops (tobacco, potatoes, citrus, etc.).
Used in the production of optical glass, precision glass, CRT glass, etc., as a flux and clarifying agent.Improves glass transparency, strength and heat resistance. An important raw material for ceramic glazes and enamel glazes.
A classic oxidizing agent and one of the core components of black powder (saltpeter, sulfur, charcoal).Used in fireworks, display fireworks and fuses to supply oxygen for combustion.
Used in the production of explosives and propellants. For metal heat treatment: as a quenching agent and salt bath agent in steel heat treatment processes.
· Pharmaceuticals: Used in small amounts for drug synthesis and as a raw material for anti-inflammatory drugs.
· Electronics Industry: Applied in cathode ray tubes and optical materials.
· Also used in water treatment, catalysts, metal surface treatment, etc.
Used as a food additive (color fixative and preservative).Mainly for meat products such as bacon, sausages and hams to maintain color and inhibit Clostridium botulinum.Strict limits are specified in national standards, and it must comply with food-grade potassium nitrate specifications.
