Physicochemical Property:
Dark green solid. Its solution or vapor is dark red. Easy to absorb moisture. Reacts violently when in contact with water. Relative density 2.928. Melting point 194.3℃. Boiling point 268℃. The heat of vaporization is 62.8 kJ/mol; the heat of fusion is 19.00 kJ/rnol. Soluble in dry alcohol, dry ether and other organic solvents. Also soluble in concentrated inorganic acids. poisonous!.
Applications and Usages:
It is mainly used as a chlorination catalyst and a component of refractory resin, and can also be used to prepare organic metal compounds, such as molybdenum hexacarbonyl.
