Hexacarbonyltungsten is a colorless crystal with a strong metallic luster. It has a high vapor pressure and is volatile and flammable. It is stable to air, water, and acids, but decomposes in strong alkaline solutions. It is insoluble in water but soluble in many organic solvents, and decomposes at approximately 150℃.
